Project Overview
Located within a contemporary commercial development in Chengdu, this sculptural footbridge forms a distinctive connection between the main entrance plaza and the surrounding public spaces.
The structure combines architectural circulation with a strong sculptural presence. Rather than functioning as a conventional pedestrian bridge, the stainless steel installation becomes an integral part of the landscape, shaping movement, framing views, and creating a recognizable visual landmark.
The flowing form responds to the surrounding architecture and landscape, creating a continuous transition between the built environment and the sunken plaza below.
Design Concept
A Flowing Structure Within the Landscape
The design is based on a continuous, undulating geometry.
Multiple stainless steel tubes follow carefully controlled curves, creating a layered surface that changes in density and rhythm along the bridge.
From different viewpoints, the structure presents constantly changing profiles. The open spacing allows light, landscape, and surrounding architecture to remain visible through the installation, giving the bridge a lighter and more dynamic appearance.
The result is a structure that feels less like a fixed architectural element and more like a flowing form moving through the space.

Precision-Curved Tubes
The sculptural surface is constructed from numerous individually formed stainless steel tubes.
Each tube follows a specific curvature and position within the overall geometry. Their spacing, alignment, and transitions are carefully controlled to maintain a consistent visual rhythm across the entire structure.
The combination of repeated elements and changing curves creates the appearance of a continuous flowing surface while maintaining the structural logic required for fabrication and installation.
Fabrication & Finishing
Precision in Every Curve
Each stainless steel component goes through a controlled fabrication process, including cutting, forming, fitting, welding, grinding, and surface finishing.
Because the structure contains a large number of curved elements, consistency between individual components is critical.
Small differences in curvature or spacing can affect the overall visual flow of the installation.
For this reason, fabrication focuses not only on individual component accuracy, but also on how every element connects to the complete composition.
